How we create a luxurious gold-plated designer inkwell for smartphone
A luxurious inkwell crafted in a modern European style, plated with 23-karat Italian bright gold and adorned with a rare, beautiful semi-precious striped flint stone, has been entirely designed and handcrafted in the Kostylo atelier.
This golden inkwell, intended for a phone and pen, is crafted from a deep love for beauty, the quality of nineteenth-century goldsmiths and artisans, as well as a passion for art.
The rare materials used in this unique smartphone and pen inkwell include 3mm-thick brass sheets. The exquisite striped flint, carefully selected for its flawless condition and unique patterns, is a semi-precious stone even rarer than diamonds, as it is exclusively found in Poland—no other place in the world has deposits of this rare, optimistic stone.

After cutting the brass sheets to the exact shapes and dimensions, the components were soldered with silver to form the inkwell’s base.
The next stage involved manually grinding the excess silver from soldering, along with smoothing out the flat surfaces to achieve a flawless finish. This meticulous work required precision, as straight, flat surfaces are some of the most challenging to perfect—any flaw becomes instantly visible and must be corrected by hand with extreme care.
We also grinded the corners, which feature intricately crafted, characteristic chamfers that add elegance and personality to the inkwell’s base. This signature detail is a hallmark of our style, as we love creating modern objects with these distinctive chamfers.
Additionally, we grinded the silver solder inside the inkwell’s base to make way for the perfectly even, precisely cut striped flint semi-precious stone.
The next step involved cutting to size and silver-soldering the walls for the pen and pencil holder. This holder was then hand-grinded, smoothed with sandpaper, copper-plated, and finally gilded with bright Italian gold.
Simultaneously, we created the smartphone stand by soldering silver-dimensioned elements into a single unit, then hand-grinding, smoothing with sandpaper, copper-plating, and gilding it with 23-karat gold.
In its full splendor, this gold-plated luxury inkwell with a modern design for smartphone and pens is a true masterpiece.
