Luxurious belt with „Large Butterfly”

How we create a luxurious belt with the „Large Butterfly” bas-relief

We handcrafted a luxury clasp for dresses and skirts using nineteenth-century goldsmithing techniques. The entire process, from concept to the final product, was created by Kostylo Atelier. For this project, we deliberately used a semiprecious stone known as striped flint, a stone of optimism that we fell in love with.

We deeply desire that our works, created with a love for beauty, quality, and art, reach people with similar passions.

Here you can see in all its glory the luxury belt buckle with modern large butterfly design authored Kostylo atelier.

We began by cutting brass sheets into strips and from these strips, we cut out the desired pattern of our butterfly.

The brass elements of our butterfly have already been cut.

We intricately cut the side walls of each butterfly wing from brass sheet metal.

We are preparing the intricately cut brass elements of the butterfly’s center section for soldering with high-quality silver.

After soldering the butterfly’s center section with silver, we prepare the previously aligned side walls of the butterfly’s wings to solder them with silver as well.

We have all the side walls precisely aligned and silver-soldered along with the bottom part. This is how the back of the butterfly looks after silver soldering.

After the silver soldering process, the next step is hand sanding the butterfly bas-relief to remove the excess silver solder, followed by smoothing all the side walls with sandpaper.

After hand sanding, we sanded off the excess silver solder inside the butterfly and manually sanded the side walls with sandpaper ranging from 180 to 700 grit. This allowed us to smooth the side walls and the entire butterfly bas-relief to perfection. Then we copper-plated the butterfly and finally gilded the butterfly bas-relief and the entire clasp with 23-carat light Italian gold.

Meanwhile, we prepared the dimensioned wings made from selected striped flint, which were polished to a beautiful shine.

Here is the final result of our work, made with love for beauty, the highest quality, and art.
