Lotus Ring Sculpture “Full Harmony”
A multi-layered sculptural ring with striped flint and contemporary lotus motifs
This sculptural ring was built as a multi‑layered structure, echoing the architecture of a lotus unfolding in successive tiers. The form consists of eight petals arranged in three concentric levels, each cut by hand from brass sheet, shaped, refined and silver‑soldered into a unified composition. The geometry is deliberate: the ring rises like a small architectural object, with each layer supporting the next.
At the center sits a selected piece of striped flint, chosen for its clarity of pattern and its ability to anchor the entire structure. The stone is framed by contemporary interpretations of lotus leaves – not literal botanical forms, but disciplined metal motifs that create a transition between mineral core and sculpted petals. The back of the ring features an opening cut specifically to reveal the internal structure of the stone, allowing light to pass through it like in advanced watchmaking where the mechanism becomes part of the experience.
The gilded surface, finished with Italian 23-karat gold, emphasizes the ring’s mass and layered construction. Despite its circular format, the piece behaves more like a small sculpture than an ornament. Its presence is defined by weight, proportion and the interplay between metal and stone.
The ring is housed in a custom dark-green wooden case designed specifically for this object. The hinges and clasps – shaped, fitted and gilded by hand – are part of the work rather than accessories. The interior is lined with white satin, creating a quiet environment that highlights the geometry and mineral structure of the piece.
This work belongs to a series in which symbolic forms are reinterpreted through contemporary metalwork. “Full Harmony” explores balance, layering and the meeting point between geological time and crafted structure.
