Foal Horse Sculpture with Chandelier
Hand-modelled resin form with integrated wiring and brass lighting element
This sculpture presents a life‑size foal modelled and executed entirely by hand in the Kostylo Atelier. The form is built from resin, shaped through successive stages of manual modelling and finished in a uniform white surface. Inside the body, a concealed cable channel allows the installation of a four‑arm brass chandelier positioned directly above the horse’s head.
The posture follows natural proportions, allowing the sculpture to function as a full spatial presence rather than a decorative miniature. Such a scale and stance are rarely produced in contemporary sculptural practice, making the piece an uncommon object within its category. Edges, contours and transitions were refined to maintain clarity of silhouette from multiple viewpoints.
The chandelier introduces a vertical counterpoint to the horizontal mass of the foal. The juxtaposition of an animal form with a suspended lighting element creates a deliberate tension between stillness and illumination. The brass structure of the chandelier was selected to complement the white surface of the sculpture, establishing a balanced architectural composition.
The work was executed entirely in the Kostylo Atelier, from modelling to finishing. It is conceived as a study of scale, presence and the intersection between sculpture and functional lighting.
