“Noble Path” – Lotus Ring Sculpture
A sculptural ring shaped as an eight-petal lotus
This sculptural ring was conceived entirely as a figurative object, not as jewelry. Its eight-petal lotus structure became a framework for studying rhythm, repetition and the quiet tension between mineral mass and organic unfolding. The circular format served as a spatial boundary within which the form could develop, allowing the lotus to function as a compact sculptural composition.
The piece was shaped through a sequence of manual processes carried out in the Kostylo Warsaw atelier. Each petal was forged, refined and silver-soldered by hand, allowing the form to emerge gradually through direct engagement with the material. The striped flint – a stone I often return to in my work – introduces a mineral axis around which the composition stabilizes. Its layered structure contrasts with the soft modelling of the petals, creating a dialogue between geological time and crafted form.
This work continues my exploration of symbolic botanical motifs interpreted through contemporary metalwork. The lotus, traditionally associated with renewal and clarity, becomes here a study of balance and proportion rather than a literal emblem. Its sculpted presence is intended to function as a small autonomous figure, capable of standing within a space as an independent object.
Although the piece adopts the circular format of a ring, its intention is purely sculptural. It belongs to a broader series in which familiar formats are reinterpreted as vessels for artistic investigation, allowing material, gesture and symbolism to converge in a single hand-shaped form.
