Ferrari Horse Sculpture
Lost-wax cast brass, heavy silver plating, striped flint base
This sculpture depicts the Ferrari horse cast in brass using the lost-wax method. The form was modelled and refined by hand in the Kostylo Atelier, where the contours, musculature and posture were resolved through a sequence of manual adjustments. After casting, the surface was shaped, polished and finished with a thick layer of silver plating that emphasizes the clarity of the silhouette.
The base is constructed from 3-millimeter brass sheet, cut and formed by hand, silver-soldered and finished with a heavy silver coating. A selected fragment of striped flint is inlaid into the structure. Its layered mineral pattern introduces a geological counterpoint to the polished metal and anchors the composition visually. The orientation and scale of the stone were matched to the proportions of the base to maintain balance within the form.
The horse itself is treated as a study of movement and tension. The stillness of the cast contrasts with the dynamic posture associated with the emblem, creating a dialogue between representation and sculptural abstraction. Edges and transitions were shaped to preserve clarity from multiple viewpoints.
This piece belongs to a series in which emblematic forms are reinterpreted through manual craft. The sculpture examines proportion, material contrast and the meeting point between classical metalworking and contemporary symbolic imagery.
