How we create the luxurious little golden butterfly for the buckle
This is a very luxurious and elegant buckle belt for trousers or dresses, featuring a bas-relief of a modern butterfly, with a semi-precious stone, striped flint, set inside. The leather of this belt is of very high quality, dyed and preserved with natural ingredients, making it durable and long-lasting. European design with the unique style of the Kostylo atelier.
When we we create the luxurious little golden butterfly for the buckle, photos and descriptions can only briefly showcase our handmade process. In reality, it’s a time-consuming and creative process, sometimes taking several months to create something truly unique.

Preparing elements to the required dimensions by cutting 3mm-thick brass sheet into the needed pieces.
Hand-grinding each tiny piece of the butterfly bas-relief to later assemble it into one complete form.
Hand filing to precisely fit each part of the wing into a whole. In a similar manner, every detail of our modern-design butterfly bas-relief is grinded.

Preparation for soldering with silver the precisely fitted and refined details of the butterfly into a single piece by Kostylo atelier.
Intricately and manually soldering the silver elements together, front and back, to create the anticipated butterfly bas-relief shape.
Here is the silver-soldered butterfly bas-relief after being cleaned of borax.
After silver soldering, each side and the base are grinded by hand to remove excess silver and to smooth the flat surfaces.
Fitting the cut pieces of the striped flint semi-precious stone and polishing it to a high gloss.
The next stage is polishing the prepared butterfly bas-relief to a very high shine, gilding the luxurious butterfly with bright 23-carat Italian gold, and setting the previously polished banded flint pieces.
This is how the back part of the luxurious 23-carat gold-plated butterfly bas-relief with the hand-engraved Kostylo logo looks. In the photo, you can see two holes with hand-made threads for attaching the gold butterfly to the luxurious buckle. This is the old-school way, meaning nothing is glued with adhesive; everything can be unscrewed, repaired, re-gilded, and reassembled.
