Brass Bust
An early atelier commission, hand-cast and hand-assembled (2013)
This brass bust was created as an early commission of my atelier, cast in solid brass and finished entirely by hand. The model from which the piece was made was once said to be associated with Dunikowski – this was the information given to me at the time – but without archival confirmation, I treat it as part of the object’s oral history rather than a verified attribution.
The bust was produced using traditional sculptural methods: hand modelling, mold preparation, brass casting, chasing, and final assembly, which I also carried out personally. Its surface was refined to a noble, dignified patina in deep bronze tones, characteristic of classical portrait sculpture.
This piece represents an early stage of my atelier’s development — a time when technique, tools, and materials were still forming the foundation of my sculptural language. Looking back, I can clearly see how much my craftsmanship has evolved, yet this bust remains an important marker of that period: intuition, manual discipline, and the beginnings of monumental commissioned work.
